Department of Microbiology, Government Medical College celebrates World Hand Hygiene Day

The Department of Microbiology at Government Medical College, Patiala, today observed World Hand Hygiene Day. On this occasion, patients and their attendants at Rajindra Hospital were made aware of the importance of hand hygiene.

The programme was conducted under the leadership of Director Principal Dr. Raminder Pal Sibia, Medical Superintendent Dr. Vishal Chopra, and Head of the Department of Microbiology and Joint Director, Medical Education and Research, Dr. Rupinder Bakshi. During the event, more than 100 doctors took a pledge to maintain proper hand hygiene in order to prevent the spread of infections transmitted through hands.

Director Principal Dr. R.P.S. Sibia and Professor and Head of the Forensic Department Dr. Akashdeep Agarwal initiated the programme by administering the hand hygiene pledge.

During the programme, staff nurses from the Infection Control Team of Rajindra Hospital sensitized patients visiting the OPD about maintaining proper hand hygiene. On this occasion, all faculty members of the department, including Dr. Renu Bansal, Dr. Mandeep Kaur, Dr. Shivani Sharma, Dr. Sunil Bhardwaj, Dr. Sarjeevan Kaur, along with senior and junior residents, participated enthusiastically.
