“The recent emergence of a shocking audio clip, allegedly featuring a senior Punjab IPS officer negotiating a sordid sexual transaction, has cast a dark shadow over the integrity of the Punjab Police and the Bhagwant Mann-led government. This disgraceful episode, which has gone viral and sparked outrage across the nation, demands immediate and uncompromising action. I, call upon the Punjab Government, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and all relevant authorities to launch a time bound, independent inquiry into this scandal and ensure that justice is served without delay or favoritism” said Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira
In a press release Khaira said “the audio, reportedly involving a senior IPS officer, exposes an alleged conversation laced with vulgarity and transactional sleaze a blatant abuse of power that undermines public trust in one of Punjab’s most critical institutions. The refusal of the Mann government to swiftly order forensic verification of the audio, coupled with whispers of suppression tactics through social media censorship, raises serious questions about its commitment to accountability. Why is the government shielding the accused instead of confronting the truth head-on? Why has this explosive evidence not been sent to a reputable forensic laboratory for authentication, rather than being buried under the weight of political expediency?”
“This is not just a personal failing it is a systemic rot that threatens the safety and dignity of Punjab’s citizens, particularly its women.
The allegations point to a senior officer exploiting his position for depravity, a betrayal of the uniform and the people he is sworn to protect. The Bhagwant Mann government’s deafening silence and apparent reluctance to act decisively only fuel suspicions of complicity or cowardice. Every day of inaction erodes public confidence further and emboldens those who believe they are above the law” added Khaira
Khaira said “I demand the following with utmost urgency:
1 Immediate Suspension of the Accused Officer: Pending a full investigation, the IPS officer in question must be suspended to prevent any interference or intimidation of witnesses.
2 Time-Bound Inquiry: A transparent, independent probe, completed within 30 days, must be initiated under the supervision of a retired High Court judge, with findings made public.
3 Forensic Verification: The audio must be subjected to rigorous forensic analysis by a credible, neutral laboratory to establish its authenticity beyond doubt.
4 Accountability for Suppression: Any attempts to block or censor the audio on social media, allegedly through proxies of the accused, must be investigated and those responsible held accountable”.
