NS NIS Patiala Celebrates 75th Edition of “Fit India Sundays on Cycle” with Enthusiastic Participation

The 75th edition of “Fit India Sundays on Cycle” was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports, marking a historic milestone in India’s fitness movement. The nationwide event was organized to commemorate Commonwealth Games Day and to strengthen the collective spirit as India moves forward on its journey towards hosting the 2030 Commonwealth Games.
At NS NIS Patiala, nearly 100 enthusiastic participants joined the cycling event and successfully covered a distance of 31 kilometres, promoting the message of fitness, discipline, and a healthy lifestyle.
The event was further honoured by the gracious presence and active participation of brave officers and jawans from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), whose involvement reflected the spirit of unity, dedication, and national pride. Adding prestige to the occasion, several distinguished sporting icons participated in the ride and inspired all present with their commitment towards fitness and excellence in sports.

Specially invited Gagandeep Kaur (Archery), Nitu (Boxing), Jasmine (Boxing), Bindiyarani Devi (Weightlifting), and Arokia Rajiv (Olympian) are all Commonwealth Games medalists. The event highlighted the importance of regular physical activity and reinforced the vision of the Fit India Movement* to make fitness an integral part of everyday life. The celebration served as a strong reminder of India’s growing sporting culture and its aspirations on the global stage.
Vineet Kumar, Deputy Director General, SAI NSNIS Patiala, expressed his gratitude to all participants for their active involvement in the event. The successful conduct of the event at NS NIS Patiala reflected the institute’s continued commitment towards promoting sports excellence, fitness awareness, and national sporting ambitions.
