State wide PCMSA doctors call off strike; now Solidarity March/ Gate Rally planned

After assurance and detailed deliberations with the state health minister Dr.Balbir Singh over the current issue of assault on SMO ESI Hospital Hoshiarpur Dr.Sunil Bhagat, Punjab Civil Medical Services Association (PCMSA) Punjab has called off their state wide strike call.
Punjab Civil Medical Services Association (PCMSA) Punjab has been apprised of the prompt action taken by the Department in this regard as follows:
– Immediate registration of FIR with relevant sections and arrest of the culprit.
– Prompt transfer with pilot vehicle to DMCH, Ludhiana.
– All treatment expenses being borne by the government.
– Due care regarding stay of Dr.Sunil’s family at Ludhiana.

– Setting up of a District level grievance redressal system/mechanism, headed by the Civil Surgeon /Deputy Director level officer.
– In case of any such untoward incidents, in future, the institution head will be responsible for the registration of Institutional PI/FIR.
– It has been assured that all district hospitals will be getting security via both a police chownki and outsourced staff, and the sub-division hospitals/ community health centres (SDH/CHC) via outsourced staff, aimed at providing safe and conducive work environment at all primary health institutes (PHIs).
– It was emphasised that as per the code of ethics, no videography is allowed to be done in the hospital premises.
– 600 plus medical officers MOs(Regular) and 1200 plus paramedical posts to be filled in by July-August.
“In view of the adequate steps taken by the government on this issue and the concrete assurances given to PCMSA, it has been unanimously decided that the earlier programme regarding strike at all PHIs on April 22,2024 is being modified to a Solidarity March/ Gate Rally from 8am to 10am on April 22,2024 all PHIs of the State, along with a State level press conference by PCMSA at Hoshiarpur at 10am” said spokesperson of PCMSA Punjab.
