10 MC Commissioners; 18 coordinating officers in municipalities appointed in Haryana-Vij

Haryana, Urban Local Bodies Minister Anil Vij said that the state has appointed Municipal Commissioners of 10 Municipal Corporations and 18 coordinating officers in the municipalities to monitor the efforts being made to prevent the spread of the novel Coronavirus at the headquarter-level. The government has also released a grant of Rs 288.92 crore to all 87 municipalities for the prevention of coronavirus.
While giving detailed information in this regard here today, Vij said that the funds being spent by the concerned municipalities to prevent the spread of corona virus have been declared as FiT charges by the state government. Apart from this, the fixed date for submission of water and sewerage bills, property tax and rent of the shops of municipalities, stock-exchange, and licence fees have also been extended.
He said that at present 22,440 sweepers are working and 3,466 vehicles have been deployed for carrying out the cleaning works. While the main roads of more than 25 cities are being cleaned with the help of mechanical sweeping machines. For the safety of all employees engaged in the cleaning, the government has provided them with masks, gloves, soap etc. He informed that to make people aware of the corona virus, information is constantly being provided through Munyadi and newspapers and advertisements.
The Urban Local Bodies Minister said that in this situation, 164 lodging centers have been set up by the municipalities in collaboration with the district administration to provide food and accommodation to the workers of unorganized sectors, migrant labourers and the destitute people. Presently, 1,273 people are staying in these centers which have been sanitized thoroughly.

He said that spraying is being done regularly at all the bus stands, railway stations, government offices and public places of the state. He said that it has also been decided to extend the services of the employees of the local bodies who are retiring today for one month i.e. till April 30, 2020.
