10 overloaded vehicles impounded, fine of Rs 3 lakh imposed

Under a special drive launched on the directions of Rupnagar deputy commissioner Dr Preeti Yadav, 10 overloaded vehicles were challaned in Rupnagar district and a fine about Rs 3 lakh was imposed while these vehicles were also impounded.
Giving information in this regard, RTA Sukhwinder Kumar said that it was imperative for everyone to ensure that the traffic rules were not violated in any way so as to prevent loss of life and property due to accidents.
He appealed to the transporters and drivers of heavy vehicles not to carry more than the stipulated weight nor to modify the vehicles by raising extra body. He said that in order to make this campaign a success, strict action would be taken against the violators of traffic rules.
