14th Khalsayi Khed Utsav begins at Mata Gujri College

14th Khalsai Khed Utsav 2017of Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee today started off with great fervor and enthusiasm at Mata Gujri College, Fatehgarh Sahib. Jathedar Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar, President Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee  College, graced the occasion as a Chief Guest and declared the 14th Khalsayi Khed Utsav 2017 games open.

Students of colleges of SGPC run institutions participated in this gala event and showcased their talent in various sports like Kabbadi, Hockey, Gatka, Tug of War, Badminton, Chess, Basketball, Kho-Kho, Weightlifting, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Handball, Football and Athletics.

Highlighting the objectives of Khalsayi Khed Utsav, Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar , President Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee said, “Sport helps everyone to improve and maintain physical ability and skills. It does not provide only physical strength however it increases mental power too. Students should remain committed towards sports and opt them for the advancement in their career.” He also highlighted the rich history of Sikh Culture and motivated the students to remain in touch with their rich cultural values.

Dr. Jatinder Singh Sidhu, Director, Directorate of Education, Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Commitee  and Director Principal, Mata Gujri College highlighted the multifarious achievements of students in academic and co-curricular activities and said, “Sport develops a sense of friendliness among the students and develop their team spirit.   In schools, children are taught different sort of games in very early stages of their life as a healthy mind dwells in a healthy body”

On this occasion of 14th Khalsayi Khed Utsav at Mata Gujri College, a Souvenir was released to mark the occasion of Khalsayi Khed Utsav.  Cultural Exhibition, Science Exhibition, Consumer Hub were also organized to add colours to this gala event. Amarjit Singh Chawla, General Secretary, SGPC extended a vote of thanks to the distinguished guests.
