1516 cases were amicably settled in National Lok Adalat

Fatehgarh Sahib-   Under the directive of National Legal Services Authority, National Lok Adalat was organized in Fatehgarh Sahib under the guidance and supervision of R. S. Rai, District and Sessions Judge cum Chairman District Legal Services Authority Fatehgarh Sahib.

Rai told that a wide array of cases were taken up in the Lok Adalat, to exemplify; criminal compoundable cases, 138 NIA cases, family matters, labour disputes, civil matters etc.  A total of 8 benches were constituted at Fatehgarh Sahib District, presided over by R.S. Rai, Ld. District & Sessions Judge, Ranjeev Kumar Vishisht, Ld. Additional District & Sessions Judge, Fatehgarh Sahib, Neetika Verma CJM, Dr. Gagandeep Kaur, ACJSD, Sh. Himanshu Arora, JMIC,  Karanvir Singh, CJJD,  Varundeep Chopra, CJJD, Mehima Bhuler, CJJD and Inderjit Kaushik, Chairman, Permanent Lok Adalat. Two benches were constituted at Amloh presided over by Ashish Thathai, SDJM and Krishnanuja Mittal, JMIC and one in Khamanon presided by Himanshi Galhotra SDJM. The Lok Adalat was a resounding success as 2124  cases, including pre-litigated cases, were taken up for settlement out of which  1516 cases were amicably settled for a total settlement amount of Rs 88148029.4 The litigants as well as lawyers actively participated in the Lok Adalat.

Prashant Verma, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Fatehgarh Sahib said that the major benefits of Lok Adalat are that the court fees paid by the litigant is refundable and the decision passed by the Lok Adalat is final and binding upon the parties. It was appealed by him that litigants should endear themselves to Lok Adalats so to avail cost and time effective and perpetual benefits.
