15th Annual Winter Mehar Baba Charitable Trust Hockey Camp 2025 begins at Bassi Pathana

On a cold and foggy winter morning in rural Bassi Pathana, District Fatehgarh Sahib more than 100 young hockey players assembled at the ITI Hockey Grounds Bassi Pathana sharp at 8:00am to mark the opening of Day 1 of the 15th Annual Mehar Baba Charitable Trust (MBCT) Winter Hockey Camp 2025.

Wearing their bright orange and black MBCT Hockey Nursery uniforms and fully equipped with hockey sticks, the players, along with enthusiastic coaches and support staff, began the day with warm-up exercises and jogging. This was followed by a yoga session conducted by qualified yoga trainer Amanpreet Kaur, setting a positive and energetic tone for the camp. The Winter Hockey Camp, being held from 27th to 30th December 2025, is witnessing the participation of over 100 MBCT Hockey Nursery trainee players along with several MBCT alumni.

The four-day camp was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Sarpal Singh, International Hockey Player and Founder of the Roundglass Foundation. He was warmly welcomed by MBCT Managing Trustee Hassan Singh Mejie and Trustee Maj. Gen. Surat Singh Sandhu. On his arrival, Sarpal Singh was received by the MBCT coaches Tejinder Singh & Wazir Chand and presented with a commemorative WHC-2025 scarf. He was then accompanied to the players’ lineup, where he greeted the young athletes with a customary introductory handshake.

Addressing the gathering, Sarpal Singh expressed his amazement at the high level of hockey skills displayed by the young players and lauded the dedication and tireless efforts of the MBCT Hockey Nursery Coaches and Support Staff. Motivating the players, he shared that he envisions a much higher future for them, which they will witness in the years to come.

The Guest of Honour, Davinder Guru , Retd. DSO (Haryana), in his address, praised the MBCT coaches and team for their unwavering commitment to imparting quality hockey training to rural youth. He appreciated their role in nurturing talent and instilling discipline and encouraged the players to follow consistent daily practice along with a balanced and nutritious diet to maintain fitness and enhance performance.

The inaugural match of the day was played between the MBCT Girls Under-14 team and the visiting Yamunanagar Hockey Academy Girls Under-14 team. The MBCT Girls team registered an impressive 4–0 victory. The match was officiated by referees Harman Singh and Ishan.

Managing Trustee Hassan  Mejie and Trustee Maj. Gen. Surat Singh Sandhu expressed their sincere gratitude to Sarpal Singh , Davinder Guru  and other dignitaries from Round Glass Foundation Rupinder Singh, Ex Sarpanch Baldev Singh Damheri, Amarishwar Singh Goraya, Advisor MBCT for their gracious presence and encouragement at the MBCT Hockey Nursery, Bassi Pathana.
