16th District-Level National Voters’ Day Organized at Govt. Bikram College of Commerce, Patiala

As per the directions of the Chief Electoral  Officer, Punjab and the District Electoral Officer, Patiala, the District-Level National Voters’ Day function was celebrated on 25 th January 2026 at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Hall of Government Bikram College of Commerce, Patiala. Ismat Vijay Singh, PCS, Additional Deputy Commissioner (UD), Patiala, attended the event as the Chief Guest.

In her address, she encouraged all eligible voters to exercise their right to vote without fear or discrimination and appealed to all eligible citizens to register themselves as voters. She stated that the development of the country is possible only when all responsible citizens become voters and participate in maximum voting.

The Guest of Honour of the program  Harjot Kaur, PCS, SDM, Patiala, in her address, emphasized the importance of using the right to vote for strengthening democracy and informed the audience about the mobile applications issued by the Election Commission and their significance.

On this occasion, Electors Photo Identity Cards (EPIC)were distributed to newly registered young voters aged 18–19 years. Dr. Swinder Singh Rekhi, District SVEEP Nodal Officer, Patiala administered the Voter’s Pledge to the attendees and dignitaries on the occasion of National Voters’ Day.

Principal of Bikram College, Prof. Dr. Kusum Lata conveyed through her message  the vital role of educational institutions in nurturing responsible and informed citizens. She stated that colleges play a crucial role in spreading voter awareness among youth and instilling democratic values, thereby strengthening the foundation of the nation.

Students of Mohindra College presented a street play on the theme of voter awareness. Students from various schools and colleges participated in poetry, speeches and inter-school/college painting competitions related to voter awareness. Students of  State  College of Education and Government Bikram College of Commerce presented the National Anthem.

On this occasion, Best ERO  Kanu Garg, PCS, ERO 109-Nabha-cum-SDM Nabha; Best Nodal Officer  Narinder Singh Dhindsa; and Best Booth Level Officer Akashinder Singh from Assembly Constituency 116–Samana were honored with certificates and cash awards. Officers and employees who conducted outstanding voter awareness activities during the year 2025 were also honored with certificates by the District Electoral Officer.

Assistant Prof. Vivek, Assistant Prof. Dr. Reetu Kapoor and Assistant Prof. Dr.Rajni Bala from  Bikram College played a special role in organizing the event. The stage proceedings were smoothly conducted by Dr. Reetu Kapoor adding grace and coherence to the program.
