2019: Year of Development for District Fatehgarh Sahib

Year 2019 was a year of development for the district Fatehgarh Sahib. Large number of development projects was completed and rest was underway which were sanctioned by the state government for this district and large number of eligible beneficiaries availed the benefits of various welfare schemes of the government. Stating this Kuljit Singh Nagra, Advisor to CM and MLA, Fatehgarh Sahib disclosed that state government was spending more than 200 crore rupees for the recarpeting, widening, special repair and construction of new roads in the district, including all the roads proceeding towards Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib. Large number of projects related with roads had been already completed.
Nagra said that after decades Sirhind-Fatehgarh Sahib got new bus stand costing Rs.03.50 crore. This bus stand has been named after the legendary Sikh warrior Baba Banda Singh Bahadar. Besides this the construction of the mother child care hospital was going on in full swing. The project cost is 10 crores and it would be dedicated to the martyrs Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh.
MLA disclosed, ”Various investors have signed 58 MOUs amounting near about Rs. 1,000 crore. An employment to 13,798 persons is proposed to be generated through this investment in Mandi Gobindgarh. Out of this Rs. 260 core have been already invested with which 1350 persons got employment. The new focal point will be developed at village Wazirabad with an area of approx.133 acres. A CNG mother station has been installed at Industrial Focal Point, Mandi Gobindgarh. The work of laying pipe line throughout the area has been finished. It will be very helpful in reducing pollution in the city.”
Nagra said that Rupees 20 crore have been spent for the up gradation of the grain markets in the district. Sewage pipe line laying project was underway and would be completed soon, its cost was 133 crore. Process for providing canal water for drinking to 92 villages of the district has been started and the cost of the project was more than 111 crore. Besides these construction of water tanks was going on in full swing in various villages of the district.
To stop stubble burning advanced machinery was provided to 590 individual farmers and 66 farmer groups with the subsidy of 03.83 crore and 03.37 crore respectively. Custom Hiring Centers have been established in more than 100 co-operative societies. More than 600 agriculture implements have been provided to these centers with the subsidy of Rs.06.30 crore. Farmers could avail these tools on rent from these centers.
Under farmer debt waiver scheme more than 15 thousand farmers of the district got debt relief of more than 135 crore. Government was spending more than 56 crore for the conservation of Ancient and historical structures in the district. Near about 06 crore had been spent for the strengthening of Sirhind Choe.
Nagra said that to solve the problem of overflowing of the ponds of the villages. Projects based on Seechewal model were underway in 62 villages. Under this project sewage water of the village was used for irrigation after the cleansing. These projects had been completed in 04 villages and they are working very successfully. Mega diary project having the capacity of processing more than 11 lakh liter milk was under way at Bassi Pathana. With the starting of this project 01 thousand persons would get direct employment and 80 thousand would get indirect employment opportunities.
Advisor to CM said, ” Construction of One Stop center at Fatehgarh Sahib is underway and the cost of the project is 38 lakh.” He further said, ”7060 youngsters got employment through the district bureau of employment and enterprise operational at District Administrative complex. 748 persons availed financial assistance through bureau for self employment. Students can avail the benefit of free training for the competitive exams being provided at district bureau of employment and enterprise. Till now 71 placement camps and job fairs have been organized in the district.”
Nagra disclosed that under smart village scheme government was spending 27 crore for the development of the villages and the process was underway to develop Sanghol as tourist hub and the project cost was Rs.30 crore. For underground water recharging the rain water harvesting point was established at district administrative complex with the cost of Rs 08 lakh and its capacity is 30 lakh liters. Moreover Rs. 14 lakh have been spent for the construction of the tanks for rain water harvesting having the capacity of 90 lakh liters.
In the series of the steps taken by the government to commemorate the 550th Parkash Purab of Guru Nanak Sahib ‘Guru Ka Baag’ has been developed at village Iserhael. Guru Sahib had visited this village. Government is spending 03.83 core for the development of this village. 211 middle, high and senior secondary and 405 primary schools of the district have been converted into smart schools.
Nagra said that the installation of LED street lights and construction of lanes with interlocking tiles in the towns and cities of the district was going on in full swing. He said that government was fulfilling all the promises made to the people and no stone would be left unturned for the development of the district. He said that in the year 2020 the pace of the underway development projects would be expedited and various new development projects would be started in the district.
