38th Convocation: Thapar institute’s 2863 young professionals ready to contribute in India’s progress

The 38thConvocation-2024 at Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology (TIET), Patiala, began on November 4, 2024, and will run for three days, concluding on November 6, 2024.
S. Krishnan, IAS, Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, was the Guest of Honour of the Convocation.
Manoj Ahuja, IAS, Chief Secretary, Government of Odisha, student of Class of 1986, B.E. Mechanical Engineering, received Distinguished Alumnus Award.
At this Convocation, a total of 2863 degrees will be awarded to the students, which includes 2164 students from BE/BTech, 64 from BE-MBA, 123 from Ph.D., 141 from ME/MTech, 50 from M.Sc., 43 from MCA, 196 from MBA, 35 from MA (Psychology), 24 from BA/BBA/BSc and 23 from BA/BBA/BSc Hons. These degrees cover a widerange of disciplines and specializations offered in the various Engineering / Sciences / Management / Social Sciences / Humanities and Arts.
Total 40 number of students received medals/awards for their outstanding and meritorious academic, scholastic, and all-round performance.
Semanpreet Singh, who achieved the highest position among successful candidates in all fields of the final year BE/B.Tech examination with a CGPA of 9.98, received the President’s Medal for the academic year 2023-2024.
Neeraj Bansal was honoured with the S. Ranbir Singh Gold Medal as the All-Round Best Student for the academic year 2023-2024.
Ayesha Sood received the Prof. V. Rajaraman Computer Science&Engineering Award for securing the highest CGPA of 9.5 in BE Computer Science & Engineering for the class of 2024.
Pushpjot Singh was presented with the S. Ram S. Sidhu Memorial Medal for the academic year 2023-2024.
Besides this, meritorious students from each program were awarded medals for security first position in their respective branches for various programs.

Professor Padmakumar Nair, Director, Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Patiala, extended congratulations to all the degree recipients on the successful accomplishment of their academic journey and to the recipients of medals and awards for their outstanding performance. He delivered the Annual Report, focussing on the key statistics showcasing the annual accomplishments.
Rajeev Ranjan Vederah, Chairman of the Board of Governors, commended these achievements, noting that this comprehensive performance results fromthe exceptional research-driven and experiential curriculum.
TIET has recently partnered with NVIDIA with a MoU to establish the Thapar School of Advanced AI & Data Science (TSAAI), offering cutting-edge academic programs, research opportunities, and innovation projects, equipping students and faculty with vital AI knowledge and skills.
