57th SSP joins Patiala; Nanak Singh becomes third SSP to have second stint

Dr Nanak Singh joins as the 57th senior superintendent of police (SSP), Patiala. He replaces Varun Sharma who has been given the charge of assistant inspector general (AIG) Provisisong and SSP Sadak Surakhiya Force (SSF)
In a recent reshuffle, Dr Nanak Singh, a 2011 batch IPS officer, has been appointed as the new Patiala Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP). Earlier he was posted as SSP Mansa from where he is shifted to Patiala. Nanak Singh was posted as Bathinda, Gurdaspur, Mansa SSP.
He did MBBS from Government Medical College, Amritsar. Later, he cleared the UPSC examination in his first attempt in 2011.
After taking the charge from Varun Sharma and assuming the charge of Patiala SSP, he held a closed-door meeting with senior officers of the district.
57th SSP joins Patiala; Nanak Singh becomes third SSP to have second stint. This is his second stint as Patiala SSP. Earlier he remained posted as Patiala SSP from April 1,2022 to April 30,2022. He became the third SSP who remained posted as district police chief for more than once.
Earlier Dr Sandeep Garg IPS had two term as Patiala SSP from January 2, 2022 to March 31, 2022 and from May 10, 2021 to October 14,2021.
Gurpreet Singh Gill, PPS is the other officer who had served as Patiala SSP for two terms. He remained posted as Patiala SSP from March 16, 2012 to May 2, 2013 and September 2, 2010 to December 27, 2011.
