75th Republic Day celebrations at Government College of Education, Sector 20 D Chandigarh

75th Republic Day celebrations were held at Government College of Education, Sector 20D, Chandigarh on January 26,2024. As per the tradition of the college, the oldest serving employee in the order, Dr. Kusum, Associate Professor of the college was the Chief Guest of the day and hoisted the National Flag.
Principal of the college Dr. Sapna Nanda in her speech congratulated all present on the occasion and highlighted the significance of the day. She shared that the constitution of India has not only provided a strong basis for democracy but has also inspired other nations as well and is designated as “Mother of Democracy”. She defined the role of Education as an instrument to realise oneself and to explore the truth and that we must work together towards a equitable and sustainable world order. To create a balance between environment and development we should look upon the ancient knowledge and life values to make it more cohesive. Moreover, traditional knowledge holds immense importance in shaping our future. It provides us with unique insights, alternative approaches, and sustainable solutions to the challenges we face in today’s fast-paced world. Whether it is the promotion of eco-friendly practices, the revival of indigenous crafts, or the preservation of local biodiversity, traditional knowledge plays a crucial role in building a sustainable and inclusive society. She further emphasized that as we celebrate our Republic Day, let us not only commemorate our past but also envision a brighter future for our nation. Let us honor and cherish our traditional knowledge, acknowledge the development India has witnessed until now, and work together to make India emerge as a global power, leading the way for peace, progress, and prosperity.
75th Republic Day celebrations at Government College of Education, Sector 20 D Chandigarh. Students presented patriotic songs and sweets were distributed on this occasion. The function was conducted by staff secretary Dr. Lilu Ram and was largely attended by the faculty, office and administrative staff of the college. All the faculty members of the college and student representative Shivam Jha on behalf of NSS units of the college garlanded the Chief Guest of the day. The function concluded with the National Anthem.
On the occasion of National Voters Day on 25th January, 2024 the Electoral Literacy Club Headed by Dr. Nisha Singh of the college was awarded appreciation as the “ Best Electoral Literacy Club” for outstanding and dedicated contribution in conducting SVEEP activities, spreading voter awareness and electoral literacy among students/citizens/ electors during the year 2023 by Harsuhinder Pal Singh Brar, PCS, Director School Education-cum-AERO-03, Union Territory, Chandigarh. Under the Pre-Republic Day celebrations, the Club released its news letter and organized a social awareness rally, pledge, rangoli competition, quiz, speech and nukkad natak on the theme” Nothing like Voting”.
