76th annual sports day marked at YPS, Patiala

Yadavindra Public School, Patiala celebrated the 76th Annual Sports Day on Saturday, November 9. More than 1400 students participated to mark this special occasion. The YPS Board of Governors, the school authorities, teachers, parents of all the students and the alumni of the Silver Jubilee batch (1999), Golden Jubilee batch (1974) and the Veteran OYs witnessed this celebration of the school.
The celebrations commenced with the arrival of the Chief Guest, Sunita Rani, PPS (D.R), Commandant, 1st Commando BN., Bahadurgarh, Patiala. The Headmaster of YPS, Patiala, Navin Kumar Dixit welcomed the chief guest and addressed the gathering. The students of X-XII saluted the chief guest in a steady and synchronised impressive march past, coupled with the rousing march music by the school Pipe band. The ceremonial flame was lit by the four of the best athletes of the school.
An oath taking ceremony was administered by the school Head boy. Around 1400 students (Foundation, Junior, Middle wing) challenged their fitness levels and displayed perfect amalgamation of fit body and mind in various zestful events like Equestrian show, Yoga, Zumba, Aerobics, Dumbbell PT and Rhythmic dance. The final rounds of various inter-house Athletic events were also held, finally deciding the winning house of the year.
Following tradition, the Silver Jubilee batch, Golden Jubilee batch, and Veteran OYs relived their school memories of the school track while participating in the races and march past. The unmatched energy of the alumni batch raised the level of enthusiasm in the stadium.
The esteemed chief guest awarded the winners of various sports events in a prize-giving ceremony. The chief guest congratulated everyone for the great achievement and also appreciated the wonderful performances by the students.
The Sports Day not only commemorates the sporting achievements of the year but also shows the mental and physical strength of the students. All Yadavindrians longingly look forward to this event every year. It is a moment to applaud and motivate the sporting spirit of the children. The mass participation on this day showed the values and ethos of Yadavindra Public School.
