Under the directions of Municipal Commissioner Bikramjeet Singh Shergill, IAS a review meeting of the Punjab Municipal Services Improvement Project (PMSIP) was conducted by Additional Commissioner Dr. Jai Inder Singh, PCS. The project is being implemented with the support of the World Bank and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.

It is noteworthy that the PMSIP project has been initiated by the government to improve municipal services and promote e-governance. The Amritsar Bulk Water Supply Scheme (ABWSS) is also a part of this project. Along with municipal officials, representatives from Larsen & Toubro also attended the meeting.

On this occasion, the Additional Commissioner was informed that the work of digitizing old municipal records will begin next week. Under this initiative, approximately 85 lakh pages will be scanned and digitized within the next nine months. Additionally, the installation of compactors for the proper storage and management of old records will be completed by next month.

Regarding the progress of the GIS survey, officials informed that about 21% of properties have been surveyed so far. Expressing concern over the slow pace, the Additional Commissioner directed the company to increase the number of survey team members. He also appealed to citizens to cooperate with GIS survey teams and provide accurate property information.

Meanwhile, officials from Larsen & Toubro stated that work under the ABWSS project has been accelerated, with around 850 workers currently engaged, and the project is expected to be completed by the end of this year. The Additional Commissioner instructed officials to closely monitor the company’s work to further enhance the pace and also directed the company to increase the more workforce. On this occasion, SE Project Dr. Jitin Vasudeva, Project Manager Kuldeep Singh Saini (Retd. Chief Engineer), XEN Sunil Mahajan, Narendra Pal Singh, Jitendra Vansil, Giriraj Singh Hada, Mani Sharma, Ashwani Kumar, and from Larsen & Toubro, Sanjay Kumar and Anil Kumar Bind, among others, were present.
