8th International Conference on AFTMME concluded at MRSPTU; scientist shared their thoughts

8th International Conference on Advancements and Futuristic Trends in Mechanical and Materials Engineering (AFTMME 2020) concluded at Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda here on Monday.
Leading academicians, scientists and researchers from United Kingdom, USA, Iran, Nigeria, Saudia Arabia, South Africa, Australia as well as from different parts of the country deliberated on latest trends and international research outcomes in Mechanical and Materials Engineering including Robotics and automation, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Internet of Things, micro and nano-technology and related aspects. They also shared their thoughts and experiences, while responding to queries from the participants. More than 150 research papers received from prominent international institutes, including all IITs, NITs.
The online conference was organised by Society of Materials and Mechanical Engineers (SOMME) in collaboration with MRSPTU, Bathinda.
At the valedictory ceremony, SOMME Patron, Prof. Satya Prakash (IIT Roorkee) pointed out in view of the COVID -19 pandemic more and more institutes of higher education taking to alternative modes to reach out to their students. He said in the changing scenario, distance education learning and online education has wider access and gaining strength as a viable mode of higher education. He stressed on the need for coordinated effort for popularizing online/distance education and improving skill development courses.
Earlier, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Chairman Prof. (Dr.) Anil Dattatraya Sahasrabudhe inaugurated the 8th International Conference on Advancements and Futuristic the conference and shared his views on New Education Policy and national goal of being ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat’ (Self-reliant India).
SOMME President and MRSPTU, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Buta Singh Sidhu thanked the participants and team members for successful completion of the conference and vowed to organise more such programmes in next year.
Dr. Ravi Kant from IIT Roorkee, Dr. Pardeep Jindal, Dr. Rakesh Bhatia, Dr. Vikas Chawla, Dr. Harpreet Singh from IIT Ropar, Dr. Balwinder Singh, Dr. Hazoor Singh, Dr. Sukhpal Singh Chatha, Er. Haramritpal Singh and Er. Yadwinder Sharma played a key role in organizing the event.
UPSC-2020 Contest-
Main attraction of the conference was the Undergraduate Presentation Skill Contest (UPSC-2020). Hundreds of students from different parts of the country participated in the event.
In UPSC-2020 contest, Salman Shaikh & Sohel Shaikh from College of Engineering, Pune won first Prize of Rs. 51,000/-, while Ayush Srivastav from Maulana Aazad National Institute of Technology, Bhopal bagged 2nd Prize of Rs. 31,000. Similarly Ashima & Sanyukta Maradia from IIT, Ropar won 3rd Prize of Rs. 21,000/- in the contest.
Jashanpreet Kaur from Giani Zail Singh School of Architecture & Planning, MRSPTU, Bathinda won the Best Technical Content Award of Rs. 11,000 S. Gurdev Singh Memorial Award.
Pushkar Bansal from GZSCCET, MRSPTU, Bathinda won Mahadaran Numberdar Memorial Appreciation Prize of Rs. 5,000, while Simerpreet Kaur & Shruti Kakkar from GZS School of Architecture & Planning, MRSPTU, Bathinda secured Ashok Singh Gurung Memorial Appreciation Prize of Rs. 5,000/- for best performance in the contest.
