KYC of Prof Karamjeet an academician of repute appointed as Vice Chancellor, GNDU

Acting on the recommendation of the Punjab government, Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria has appointed Prof. Karamjeet Singh as Vice-Chancellor of one of India’s leading university, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar for a period of three years.
He replaces another academician of repute Prof Jaspal Singh, who also remained VC, GNDU for more than 7 years. Prof Jaspal Singh had taken the university to new heights.
Prof. Karamjeet Singh, an alumnus of GNDU, is a M.Com., Ph.D. in Finance (First Division through-out, holder of Punjab Govt. Merit Scholarship). He has an experience of 38 years of Teaching & Research
An academician of repute Prof. Karamjeet Singh was appointed as founder Vice Chancellor of JGNDPSOU in September 2020 by Punjab Government for a three-year term. He got extension for six months in September 2023 and again on March 2024 and retired as the founder vice chancellor of Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University (JGNDPSOU), Patiala .
Before appointed as VC, JGNDPSOU,on September 3,2020 Prof Karamjit singh remained Registrar, Panjab University, Chandigarh from 30th September, 2018 to 2nd September, 2020. He remained Professor (Finance & Strategic Management), University Business School, Panjab University, Chandigarh. He also remained Director, University Grants Commission-Human Resource Development Centre; earlier Academic Staff College, Panjab University, Chandigarh for five years from 2013-18. He was Chief Coordinator for First On-Line B.Com. Centralized Admission conducted by Panjab University, Chandigarh in 2010 for admitting students in B.Com. at colleges situated in Chandigarh, Hoshiarpur and
Ludhiana. He remained Peer Team Member of NAAC, Bangalore to assess and accredit higher educational institutions and assessed many Colleges and Universities. He was appointed Coordinator by UGC, to allocate Orientation and Refresher Courses to all 66 UGC-Academic Staff College in India for the session 2015- 16.
He was Dean, Faculty of Business Management and Commerce, Panjab University, Chandigarh for two years (2015-16, 2017-18), Dean, Faculty of Dairying, Animal Husbandry and Agriculture, Panjab University, Chandigarh (2014-15), Fellow (Senate Member), Panjab University Governing Council for Eight Years (2008-2016), Syndicate Member, Panjab University, Chandigarh (2009, 2013, 2014), Member Board of Finance, Panjab University, Chandigarh (2015), Member Academic Council, Panjab University, Chandigarh since 2009.
Decorated with numerous awards, Prof. Karamjeet Singh’s accolades include the Lifetime Achievement Award for Management and Leadership, Best Business Academic Award, and recognition from the University Grants Commission for organizing prestigious academic events. His leadership has extended to global academic collaborations, having been invited for engagements at institutions such as Wharton Business School (USA), University of London (UK), and Toronto (Canada).

Under the dynamic leadership of Prof. Karamjeet Singh, JGNDPSOU had implemented unique initiatives of University Grants Commission (UGC) and Government of Punjab. These include special schemes for employees, teachers, Divyangjan and jail inmates (Sikhyadaat). The schemes implemented by the Vice Chancellor have benefited teaching and non-teaching staff across Punjab. The University had secured several research grants in the tutelage of Prof. Karamjeet Singh.
