From Monday, public sector general insurance companies employees to launch nationwide stir-Trilok, Darshan

Trilok Singh, General secretary, General Insurance Employees All India Association (GIEAIA) and Darshan Kumar Wadhwa, Secretary General, GIEAIA, (class I) wing has issued a joint appeal to all the officers, employees, pensioners to actively participate in the nationwide agitation to fight for their collective cause.
In a message to the staff, employees, pensioners, Trilok Singh said “following up on our earlier intimation we once again call upon your participation and support in the upcoming programs organised by GIEAIA and the like mind associations and the pensioners associations in PSGICs.
1.) Launch our demonstration on the 16th December 2024 , recently the central government is moving ahead on its agenda to increase the FDI ( foreign direct investment ) in the insurance sector from 74% to 100% along with proposed amendments to insurance laws aimed at benefiting private players . The proposed amendments to insurance laws may be introduced in the current winter session or the upcoming budget session of the parliament. This move poses the significant threat to Public Sector General Insurance (PSGI) companies, recognising the gravity of the situation, GIEAIA in collaboration with likeminded union and associations, has decided to hold lunch hour demonstration on 16th December before all HO’s , RO’s and major centers on urgent basis during this ongoing winter session of the parliament, this protest is a timely and essential response to lodge our protest and to safe guard our sectors.
2.) sit -in dharna by the pensioners association in PSGICS on the 17th December 2024,the sit-in dharna will take place before all head offices (HO’s ) regional office’s (RO’s) and other major centers, in the subsequent joint forum of trade unions (JFTU) meeting it was collectively decided that all constituent’s associations would extend their solidarity by joining the movement through a lunch hour demonstration, as a responsible organisation, general insurance employees all india association (GIEAIA) has also resolved to uphold this decision and actively participate in the lunch hour demonstration on JFTU platform at every centers.
Wadhwa added “we honestly appeal to all comadres and well wishers to recognise the seriousness of this situation and put in their wholehearted efforts to ensure the success of these programs.Your active participation is necessary in this fight for our collective cause.
