UGC-MMTTC Punjabi University successfully concludes off-line short-term course on “MOOCs online courses and open educational resources”

The UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre at Punjabi University, Patiala, proudly celebrates the successful conclusion of the Off-Line Short-Term Course on “MOOCs Online Courses and Open Educational Resources”. This comprehensive one-week offline program, held from December 10 to December 16, 2024, was organized in alignment with UGC-MHRD guidelines. Educators and professionals from diverse states and prestigious universities across India participated in this enriching course.

The valedictory session commenced with the traditional university Dhuni, followed by a warm welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) Raman Maini, Director of UGC-MMTTC and Professor Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Punjabi University, Patiala. Dr. Maini reflected on the past 06 days, describing them as profoundly enriching, filled with insightful discussions, intensive learning, and meaningful exchanges. Dr. Maini congratulated the participants on successfully completing the course.Dr Maini said MOOCs have transformed the educational landscape, making quality learning accessible to millions across the globe. He described that this course was designed not just to make you familiar with the tools and techniques of MOOCs but to empower you to create and contribute meaningfully to the digital learning ecosystem. He appreciated all the participants for their active participation and commitment to learning throughout this program.

The session continued with an inspiring and thought-provoking address by the Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) Jaswinder Singh Brar, Professor Department of Centre for Research in Economic Change, Director of Planning and Monitoring and Director Constituent Collegesat Punjabi University, Patiala. Prof. Brar underscored the importance of the program, describing it as an exceptional platform for faculty members from diverse institutions across India to collaborate, share ideas, and learn collectively. Highlighting the transformative role of technology, Prof. Brar remarked that MOOCs have become a crucial tool in enhancing efficiency, accessibility, and productivity. Prof. Brar also expressed his deep appreciation for Dr. Raman Maini, Director of UGC-MMTTC, acknowledging his unwavering commitment and hard work in ensuring the program’s success. He praised the initiative as a significant contribution to the academic fraternity, fostering growth, collaboration, and innovation in higher education.

Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal, Professor Department of Computer Science and Engineeringat Punjabi University, Patiala, and the Guest of Honour, extended his congratulations to all participants on the successful completion of the course. He expressed confidence that the program had effectively addressed their needs, whether in enhancing teaching and learning skills, improving communication, or fostering personality development.
