UGC-MMTTC, Punjabi University Successfully Concludes Inter Disciplinary Refresher Course in “Life Science (Off-line)”

The UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre at Punjabi University, Patiala, proudly celebrates the successful conclusion of the Interdisciplinary Refresher Course on “Life Science” (Offline). This comprehensive two-week offline program, held from December 10 to December 23, 2024, was organized in alignment with UGC-MHRD guidelines. Educators and professionals from diverse states and prestigious universities across India participated in this enriching course, which focused on equipping participants with advanced knowledge and skills in life sciences.

The valedictory session commenced with the traditional Punjabi University Dhuni, followed by a warm welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) Raman Maini, Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering and Director of UGC-MMTTC, Punjabi University, Patiala. Dr. Maini reflected on the past 12 days, describing them as profoundly enriching, filled with insightful discussions, ground-breaking research updates, and collaborative learning opportunities. Prof. Maini remarked that the Refresher Course in Life Sciences has been a journey of intellectual growth, collaboration, and innovation, equipping participants with cutting-edge techniques to enhance their teaching methodologies and research outputs.  Dr. Maini congratulated the participants on successfully completing the course and highlighted its role as the beginning of new opportunities for interdisciplinary research, innovative teaching, and impactful contributions to the field of life sciences.

The session continued with an inspiring and thought-provoking address by the Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) Balraj Singh, Dean, College Development Council at Punjabi University, Patiala. Prof. Singh underscored the importance of the program, describing it as an exceptional platform for faculty members from diverse institutions across India to collaborate, share ideas, and learn collectively. Encouraging the participants to “Expand Their Horizons,” he emphasized the need to embrace emerging challenges in life sciences. Highlighting the transformative role of technology and research. He also expressed her appreciation for Dr. Raman Maini, acknowledging his unwavering commitment and hard work in ensuring the program’s success.

Dr.Parmod Kumar Aggarwal, Incharge of Finance, Punjabi University, Patiala, and the Guest of Honour, extended his congratulations to all participants on the successful completion of the course. He emphasized that life sciences go beyond academic study to represent a mindset of discovery, adaptability, and innovation, urging participants to explore new ideas and practical solutions for addressing global challenges. Dr. Singh noted that the program had effectively met its objectives, enhancing participants skills in teaching, research, and interdisciplinary learning.

Dr. Himender Bharti, Professor, Department of Zoology & Environmental Sciences, Punjabi University Patiala, and Course Coordinator, expressed immense pride in the participants’ enthusiasm and dedication. He commended their eagerness to engage deeply with interdisciplinary themes, share knowledge, and collaboratively address pressing scientific questions. Dr. Bharti emphasized that the knowledge and skills acquired during the program would enable participants to implement innovative teaching techniques and undertake impactful research in life sciences. He also extended heartfelt appreciation to the resource persons for their expert guidance, which significantly contributed to the success of the Refresher Course.
