Punjab Police official involved in attack on PSPCL employees arrested by Punjab Police

The accused identified as Kanwaljit Singh, a Punjab Police personnel (ASI), involved for an attack on PSPCL employees who were on duty to check and replace faulty electricity meters in Fairland Colony, Amritsar, on January 4, has been arrested by the Amritsar police.

Giving this information, here on Wednesday, Er. Des Raj Bangar, Chief Engineer, Border Zone, PSPCL, Amritsar, has appreciated the Amritsar police in promptly acting upon and arresting the accused.

He added the incident had created a sense of fear among the PSPCL employees. He hoped that quick action of the police against the accused will ultimately build sense of confidence among the PSPCL employees while performing their duties.

Adding, Er. Bangar urged upon the police to take all preventive and required measures to check recurrence of such incidents in the future. He reiterated that such incidents are unacceptable and will not be tolerated. He said the safety and security of PSPCL employees are our top priorities.

He recalled that Kuldip Kumar, JE at PSPCL Gopal Nagar Sub-Division, Amritsar, along with his team, were deputed to carry out a special drive to address energy meters that were defective since 2022 in Fairland Colony.

During this drive, the team replaced the energy meter of consumer Kanwaljit Singh. While Kuldip Kumar requested Kanwaljit Singh’s son to sign the Meter Change Order (MCO), he called his father, who works with the Police Department in Majitha. Subsequently, both Kanwaljit Singh and his son physically attacked JE Kuldip Kumar and Lineman Kulwant Singh.
