Five get life term for gang rape

District & Sessions Judge, Rupnagar, Ramesh Kumari, sentenced Ajay Pal Singh, Nishan Singh alias DGP, Vishal Singh, Rajan Masih and Uber Masih, (all aged between 23 to 27 years) to undergo rigorous Imprisonment for Life which shall mean imprisonment for remainder of natural life of the convicts in case relating to abduction and gang rape upon a women.
The court also imposed fine of Rs.2 lacs upon each of the convict under Section 376-D IPC. They were also sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for Ten years and fined Rs.50,000 each for committing offence under Section 366 IPC. The case was registered on the basis of zero FIR on 16.3.2022 against the five accused.
As per the case of the prosecution, victim had requested for a lift from the accused persons for going to Sri Harmandar Sahib, Amritsar. The accused took her in their vehicle Scorpio car , on the night of 15.3.2022 but later took the vehicle at an isolated place where they committed rape upon the victim one by one after serving her some intoxicated laced cold drink.
Later, they were taking the Scorpio vehicle towards Amritsar along with the women. But at Banga when the police signalled scorpio car to stop, accused dashed the vehicle against the barricades put up by the police. Police managed to stop the vehicle and accused were apprehended and victim was also recovered from the vehicle. Thereafter, Zero FIR was registered at Police Station Sadar Banga.Later on, the incident pertaining to jurisdiction of PS Sri Anandpur Sahib, the investigation was transferred to PS Sri Anandpur Sahib.
On the basis of the police report submitted before the Court of Sessions Judge, the trial proceeded and today the court of Sessions Judge, Rupnagar, convicted all the five accused for committing offence of abduction and gang rape and all the accused have been convicted and sentenced for imprisonment for rigorous imprisonment for Ten years and fined Rs.50,000 each (Rupees Fifty Thousand only) under Section 366 IPC and rigorous imprisonment for Imprisonment for Life which shall mean imprisonment for remainder of natural life of convicts and fined Rs.2,00,000 each (Rupees two lacs) under Section 376-D IPC.
