Rupnagar DC Inaugurates 160 kW Solar Power Plant at District Administration Complex

In a significant step towards promoting renewable energy and sustainability, a 160 kW Solar Power Plant was inaugurated today at the District Administration Complex, Rupnagar by Himanshu Jain IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Rupnagar. This initiative is part of the administration’s commitment to adopting eco-friendly energy solutions and reducing dependence on conventional power sources.

During the inauguration, officers from the PWD Electrical Wing provided a detailed briefing on the solar power plant’s operation and its long-term benefits. The plant is expected to generate approximately 550 units of electricity per day on a yearly average, significantly reducing the electricity expenditure of the District Administration Complex while contributing to a greener environment.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain highlighted the importance of renewable energy projects in government infrastructure and commended the efforts of the PWD Electrical Wing and other stakeholders in executing the project successfully. He encouraged the adoption of solar energy solutions in other public and private establishments to support sustainable development goals.

The installation of this 160 kW Solar Power Plant is a major step toward energy conservation and cost savings, ensuring environmental sustainability for the district. This initiative reinforces Rupnagar’s commitment to promoting green energy and reducing its carbon footprint.
