AIIMS Bathinda Successfully Concludes One-Day Workshop on Vascular and Microvascular Anastomosis

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bathinda successfully concluded a one-day workshop on Vascular and Microvascular Anastomosis, which was held on February 22, 2025, at the institute’s campus.

The workshop, which was organized by the Department of Burns and Plastic Surgery and Cardiovascular Surgery, AIIMS Bathinda, in collaboration, aimed to provide hands-on training and updates on the latest techniques and advancements in vascular and microvascular anastomosis to surgeons, residents, and postgraduate students from various medical institutions.

The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. Meenu Singh, Executive Director, AIIMS Bathinda, who emphasized the importance of such training programs in enhancing the skills and knowledge of medical professionals. “AIIMS Bathinda is committed to providing quality education and training to our students and faculty members,” she said. “We believe that such workshops and training programs are essential in enhancing the skills and knowledge of our medical professionals.”

In his speech, Prof. Akhilesh Pathak, Dean Academics, AIIMS Bathinda, welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of collaboration and teamwork in achieving excellence in medical education and research. “We must recognize the importance of knowledge sharing, discussion, and learning from each other,” he said. “I urge all of you to take advantage of this opportunity to network, share your experiences, and learn from each other.”

The workshop featured a faculty of renowned experts in the field, including Dr. Raja Lahiri, Dr. Rahul Gorka, Dr. Harman, Dr. Divakar, and Dr. Dilrag, who shared their expertise and experiences through lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on training sessions.

One of the highlights of the workshop was a talk delivered by Dr. Altaf Mir, Head of the Department of Burns and Plastic Surgery, AIIMS Bathinda, on the topic “Vascular and Microvascular Anastomosis: The Need of the Hour”. Dr. Mir emphasized the importance of vascular and microvascular anastomosis in various surgical specialties, including plastic surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, and neurosurgery. He highlighted the challenges and limitations of traditional surgical techniques and emphasized the need for advanced training and expertise in vascular and microvascular anastomosis.

The participants, who included residents from Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS), postgraduates from ENT, MCh students from Urology, Orthopedics, and Plastic Surgery, and DM students from Cardiology and Nephrology, actively participated in the workshop and appreciated the opportunity to learn from the esteemed faculty.

AIIMS Bathinda Successfully Concludes One-Day Workshop on Vascular and Microvascular Anastomosis. The workshop also saw participation from outside institutions, including Government Medical College and Hospital, Faridkot, and Civil Hospital, Bathinda.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Rajiv Kumar Gupta, Medical Superintendent, AIIMS Bathinda, expressed his satisfaction with the success of the workshop and thanked the participants, faculty members, and organizers for their active participation and cooperation.

“The success of this workshop is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our faculty members and organizers,” he said. “I am grateful to all the participants who took the time to attend this workshop and engage with our faculty members.”

The workshop concluded with a valedictory function, where certificates were distributed to the participants, and the organizers thanked the faculty members, participants, for their support.
