Rupnagar administration to organise Virasati Kheda, unique Sikh heritage sports at Anandpur Sahib

In a proud celebration of Sikh martial traditions and heritage, the district administration in collaboration with Punjab Tourism Department, is delighted to announce the Virasati Kheda event, a unique Sikh heritage sports festival, to be held on March 11th and 12th, 2025, in the historic city of Anandpur Sahib.
According to deputy commissioner Himanshu Jain Virasati Kheda aims to revive and showcase the traditional sports and martial arts that have been an integral part of Sikh culture for centuries. The event will bring together athletes, enthusiasts, and visitors from across the country to witness and participate in these dynamic displays of strength, skill, and valor.
Event Highlights
- Traditional Sports Competitions: Witness thrilling competitions in traditional Sikh martial arts such as Gatka (Sikh swordsmanship), Tent Pegging, Horse Riding, and Archery.
- Cultural Performances: Enjoy vibrant cultural performances, including folk music, Bhangra, and Giddha, that reflect the rich heritage of Punjab.
- Exhibition and Workshops: Explore exhibitions showcasing Sikh history, weaponry, and artifacts, along with interactive workshops for visitors to learn traditional skills.
- Community Feasts (Langar): Experience the spirit of seva (selfless service) with free community meals served to all attendees.
