Rotaract Club of Govt. Bikram College of Commerce participates in Twentieth Free Eye & Medical Check-up Camp

On Sunday, 2nd March 2025, the Rotaract Club of Govt. Bikram College of Commerce, Patiala, took part in the Twentieth Free Eye & Medical Checkup Camp under the guidance of the college Principal Prof.(Dr.) Kusum Lata. The camp was organized by the Mahakali Charitable Trust, Patiala, and the Shri Hanuman Mandir Satsang Mandal Trust. The event was held at Shri Hanuman Mandir, Rajpura Road, near Aggarsain Hospital, Patiala, and offered free medical services to the local community. This initiative was supported by the esteemed alumnus of the college and Project Chairman of the Rotaract Club, CA Rajiv Goyal who is well known for his passion for social welfare. He ensured the successful execution of this medical camp, which benefitted numerous people in the community who do not have regular access to healthcare services.
The camp focused on providing free eye examination and general health checkups. A total of 350 patients were treated during the event, with many benefiting from eye checkups.Some patients were referred for further treatment and surgeries, making the camp an essential service for the underprivileged population in Patiala. It was conducted by a team of dedicated healthcare professionals, including two renowned doctors Dr. Varinder Garg and Dr. Aditya Aggarwal. Together they provided essential consultations and treatments to the attendees, ensuring that those who lacked access to regular healthcare services received the necessary support.
The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Dharam Vir Gandhi, Member of Parliament who was the Chief Guest of the occasion. Dr. Gandhi inaugurated the event with an inspiring speech emphasizing the importance of such community initiatives in ensuring healthcare accessibility for all. He said “It is heartening to see organizations like the Rotaract Club and charitable trusts coming together to provide healthcare services to those in need. This is a great step towards creating a healthier and more compassionate society”.
In addition to the Chief Guest, several prominent figures from the education and Rotaract communities attended the camp, further showcasing the collaborative nature of the event. Dr. Kusum Lata, Principal of Govt. Bikram College of Commerce, Patiala and Dr. Reetu Kapoor, Club Incharge of the Rotaract Club were also present and expressed their support for the initiative. The college Principal said, “We are proud of our Rotaract members for their ongoing efforts to serve the community. This event is a testament to their commitment to social welfare”. Dr. Reetu Kapoor congratulated the organisers of the camp for its success and also encouraged the students to continue taking part in such community service activities.

The team worked tirelessly to ensure the camp ran smoothly and reached as many people as possible, providing medical help and spreading awareness about healthcare in the region.
