Majithia summoned by Punjab Police SIT in drugs case after Apex Court orders

Punjab Police SIT headed by DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar, IPS investigating the drugs case registered against akali dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia , has summoned him to join investigation on March 17,2025 at 11:00 am.
The 3 member special investigation team (SIT) was constituted to probe a 2021 drugs case registered against him by SHO, State Crime, SAS Nagar, is headed by DIG Bhullar along with AIG Varun Sharma, IPS and SP Yogesh Sharma, PPS.
The fresh summons has been issued under Section 160 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC). The SAD leader has been asked to appear before the SIT at conference hall, Patiala police lines.
As per court orders” after hearing learned counsel for the parties and considering the detailed affidavit filed by the petitioner and its reply, we are of the view that the respondent is required to join the investigation.
Learned senior counsel for the respondent assures that the respondent shall appear on the date so fixed by this Court whereby further investigation may be completed and the interrogation, if any, required may be done by the concerned Investigating Officer.
In view of the above, we direct that the respondent shall appear On 17th March, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Headquarters, Patiala. On the said date, the investigation be completed. If further interrogation is required, the respondent shall appear on the next date at the same time and shall cooperate in completion of the investigation.
Majithia was booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act on December 20, 2021. It is worth noting here that it was during Charanjit Singh Channi-led government when the SAD leader was booked.
After appearance, additional affidavit if required be filed by the parties on or before 21st March, 2025.
The matter is list again on 24th March, 2025.
