For “Shambhu Action” IPS officer rewarded with DIG range post ; 3 IPS transferred in Punjab

Punjab police has appointed Harmanbir Singh Gill as the new DIG of Ferozepur Range against Swapan Sharma.
In another transfer, Swapan Sharma,IPS is the new commissioner of police, Ludhiana. He replaces Kuldeep Singh Chahal, IPS. No posting order is given to Kuldeep Singh Chahal, IPS.
Swapan Sharma was transferred to DIG Ferozepur range on February 21,2025. Within 35 days he is again transferred and posted as CP, Ludhiana.

Gill is presently posted as Joint Director, MRS PPA, Phillaur and in addition DIG, IRB, Patiala.
Harmanbir Singh Gill led the police action and cleared the area after giving warning to protesting farmers for a long time. Punjab police cleared the protest sites, dismantling temporary structures and removing trolleys and vehicles stationed at the border.
Punjab Police used bulldozers to remove the temporary shelters built by farmers on the Punjab-Haryana Shambhu border near Ambala where the farmers were sitting on a dharna in support of their demands since last many months causing not only lot of inconvenience to the passengers travelling on this busy highway but also suffering loss worth hundreds crores to those involved in trade and industry in Punjab as well as Haryana and the government.
