Govt Mohindra College gets 6th woman as principal in its 150 years of history

Last week Maninder Kaur Sidhu has joined as a regular Principal of regions oldest, prestigious, renowned Govt Mohindra College, Patiala. She has the honour to become 6th woman principal in colleges 150 years of history.
The post of Principal was vacant since January 1,2025 after the retirement of Amarjit Singh. Later Sukwinder Singh was given the additional charge. Now, she is appointed as a regular principal to head reputed Govt Mohindra College. At the time of its inception in 1875, it was the only institution of its kind in a vast area stretching from Lahore to Delhi.
Sidhu is MA, UGC-NET, M Phil, PhD was Professor and Head, Department of English, Post Graduate Govt College for Girls (PGGCG)-11, Chandigarh before joining as Principal Govt Mohindra College, Patiala. She remained Coordinator, Research Centre in English, PGGCG-11, Panjab University, Chandigarh, Member, Academic Council, Panjab University, Chandigarh
She is an author and critic also and her articles are regularly published in English dailies- Tribune, Hindustan Times, and Biblio among other publications.
She has a vast experience of 33 years in teaching and her areas of specialization /research interests are World Literature, Literary and Cultural Theory, South Asian Literature in English, New Media Studies. She has taught – Pre-PhD Course Work, Post-graduate, Undergraduate, and Honours.
She is regularly invited by various educational institutes, universities for talks, delivery of expert lectures, extension lectures.
She had attended number of seminars, conferences in her 33 years of teaching journey.
She is invited by various institutions to judge various competitions in schools, colleges, universities.
Now, she is going to head an institution offering under graduate, post graduate, integrated, PG Diploma courses, add on courses, certificate courses.
