In accordance with Election Commission of India’s directive, Chief Electoral of Punjab has fixed the prices of various items used by the candidates.The Election Commission has fixed the rates of 180 items that can be used during campaigning by candidates.
For computing candidates’ poll expenditure the Election Commission (EC) would keep a watch, among things, on how many pranthas,barfi,samosas, kachoris and cups of tea/coffee /milk/ mineral water a candidate has offered to his/her workers and supporters, and how many garlands of various sizes were put around the netaji’s neck during electioneering, how many chairs, sofas were put.
The election office will be keeping a strict vigil on the use of items during the election campaigning and video recording of the same would also be done. In accordance with EC’s directive and the state’s chief electoral officer Commissioner Jalandhar Division B. Purushartha has got prepared a rate list of such items – from Paranthas,water, tea, coffee, samosa,barfi, kachori, jalebi to garlands of different sizes to tents with and without carpets.
