London bound Air-India flight crashes; 242 persons onboard

Few minutes ago, an Air India Ahmedabad-London flight was crashed at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad during take-off.
Air India authorities shared “Flight AI171, operating Ahmedabad-London Gatwick, was involved in an incident today, 12 June 2025. At this moment, we are ascertaining the details and will share further updates at the earliest on airindia.com and on our X handle ( x.com/airindia)”.
Immediately after the incident, the Fire and Emergency Services Department deployed more than five fire-fighting vehicles to the site.
The flight, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, which departed from Ahmedabad at 1338 hrs, was carrying 242 passengers and crew members on board the Boeing 787-8 aircraft. Of these, 169 are Indian nationals, 53 are British nationals, 1 Canadian national and 7 Portuguese nationals.
According to residents residing near the airport three loud explosions were heard followed by smoke.
The cause of the incident and the extent of damage to the aircraft are yet to be officially confirmed.
