Senior Punjab police officer’s suspension period extended by Punjab government

Punjab government has extended the suspension period of ADGP, SPS Parmar, IPS officer of 1997 for 4 months (from April to August 2025).

Parmar was placed under suspension with immediate effect under Rule 3(1)(a) of the All India services (Discipline & Appear) Rules, 1969 vide order No. 02 / 15 / 2O25-2HI/824-831, dated April 25,2025.

After his suspension by Punjab government, Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi vide letter dated 09.05.2025 has confirmed the suspension of Surinder Pal Singh Parmar, and extended his suspension period for further 30 days in accordance with the All India Service (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969 upto 23.06.2025.

Now as per recommendations of the Review Committee and approval of competent authorities, the period of suspension of Surinder PaI Singh Parmar, IPS is extended for 120days i.e. upto August 21,2025  under the Rule 3(7) and 3(8) of the All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969.

On April 25,2025 , the Punjab government had suspended than Punjab Vigilance Bureau chief SPS Parmar, IPS and Assistant Inspector General, VB, SAS Nagar, Swarandeep Singh,PPS and Senior Superintendent of Police, VB, Jalandhar, Harpreet Singh Mander , PPS in connection with an alleged driving licence scam.

Senior Punjab police officer’s suspension period extended by Punjab government. Parmar was placed under suspension with immediate effect under Rule 3 (3) of All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969, for “grave misconduct and dereliction of duty,” according to an order.

Later the Punjab government reinstated two PPS officers Assistant Inspector General, VB, SAS Nagar, Swarandeep Singh, and Senior Superintendent of Police, VB, Jalandhar, Harpreet Singh of the Vigilance Bureau (VB) who had been suspended along with the then chief director of the bureau on April 24,2025. The orders said that they will rejoin their original appointments in the VB, and their period of suspension will be treated as on duty.
