The Maharaja Bhupinder Singh Punjab Sports University has been ranked among the Top 5 Sports Universities in India by the Indian Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF).
It is a comprehensive and respected academic ranking system that evaluates over 5000 institutions across India. This prestigious recognition evidently underlines the institution’s commitment to excellence in sports education and development.
MBS Punjab Sports University was established in 2019 by the State Government with a clear vision to promote sports and foster athletic talent among students in Punjab as well as other states. While the institution’s journey began amidst challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the University truly gained momentum in the latter part of 2021. Since then the University have seen significant growth and achievements.
Since then University students have actively participated in various competitions at the National and All India Inter University (AIIU) levels, bringing home numerous accolades and establishing MBSPSU as a force in the sports arena.
As the Registrar of MBSPSU, Dr. Anubhav Walia feel incredibly honored to be part of this journey. Witnessing our University achieve this high level of recognition in such a short span is truly inspiring. The credit truly goes to the Punjab Government and the Chief Minister of Punjab for their unwavering support and timely funds. A special acknowledgement to Sarvjit Singh, Special Chief Secretary ,Department of Sports and Youth Services for consistently providing exceptional support to every venture of our University and founder vice chancellor Lt. Gen. Jagbir Singh Cheema (Retd.) for laying the strong foundation of the university. With this strong support, we are dedicated to delivering the best opportunities for our students in the realm of sports, ensuring that they receive the resources and guidance necessary to excel both academically and athletically.

This growing recognition has positively impacted our admissions, with many new courses set to launch in the coming academic year.
