Haryana Chief Secretary gets one-year extension in service

On the recommendation of Haryana government, the Union Government has approved a one-year extension in service for Anurag Rastogi, the 1990-batch IAS officer and current Chief Secretary of Haryana.

Rastogi, who was scheduled to retire on June 30, 2025, will now remain in office until June 30, 2026.

As per the orders issued on June 19,2025 the Union Ministry of Personnel confirmed that, based on a proposal from the Haryana government, Rastogi’s tenure will be extended from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026.

Rastogi was appointed Chief Secretary in February 2025, succeeding Vivek Joshi, a 1989-batch IAS officer, who took voluntary retirement after being appointed Election Commissioner by the Central Government.

Before his official appointment, Rastogi had briefly served as the interim Chief Secretary after the retirement of TVSN Prasad, and before Vivek Joshi assumed office in November 2024. Later, he was appointed Financial Commissioner (Revenue) and also held the post of Additional Chief Secretary for Finance and Planning. He continues to oversee both the Finance and Planning departments.
