Brother of renowned fashion designer running 170 year old family business killed in Punjab

Today assailants killed Sanjay Verma, a renowned businessman from Abohar in Punjab. Sanjay Verma, who runs “New Wear Well” showroom, was shot dead in broad daylight outside his store.
A 58-year-old businessman, Sanjay Verma is a brother of renowned fashion designer Jagat Verma, was shot dead near Lala Lajpat Rai Chowk around in Abohar at 10.15 a.m.
According to some eyewitnesses, three assailants came on a motorcycle, opened fire at Sanjay Verma when he arrived in his car and they fled. The brutal incident occurred outside the showroom ‘New Wear Well’, owned by Verma at Bhagat Singh Chowk, Abohar.
The local shopkeepers said, the assailants fell on the road after shooting at Verma. Later they ran a few metres on foot, and then snatched another motorcycle to flee. After fleeing for some distance they abandon the motorcycle and ran away in a white car.
Immediately after the incident, Verma was rushed to civil hospital in critical condition, but was declared dead on arrival by doctors.
Police recovered empty shells and an abandoned bike near the scene. Police have launched an investigation and SSP Fazilka Gurmeet Singh is himself overseeing the investigation and are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify the attackers.
Sanjay Verma belongs to famous family of Abohar , who are into tailoring business. Formed in 1855 by Great Great Grandfather of Sanjay Verma and Jagat Verma they opened a readymade garments in the name of NWW, in 1999. The Great Khali, WWE World Champion and also by Sr. Balwinder Singh Sandhu, Player of the winning Indian Cricket Team in 1983 World Cup.
