Rupnagar Cong MC president faces no confidence motion

As many as 15 municipal councilors of Rupnagar have a given notice for moving no confidence motion against Congress Municipal Council president Sanjay Verma.
The municipal councilors including Congress and Aam Aadmi Party municipal councilors have submitted notice signed by them to Executive officers stating that Sanjay Verma has lost majority support as such a meeting of the council should be called immediately so that Sanjay Verma should prove his majority.
It may be mentioned that Rupnagar Municipal Council consists of 22 members including local MLA. One seat of councilor is lying vacant. Sanjay Verma is facing removal with two third majority against him including MLA .
Rupnagar Municipal Council executive officer Ashok Kumar said that meeting would only be convened by the president to discuss the issue of no confidence motion.
Sanjay Verma alleged that some municipal councilors had betrayed him as they had received huge money from him and assured him support for five years.
