Punjabi University don to develop guidelines for responsible use of social media by academic institutions, educators

Dr. Satinder Kumar from the School of Management Studies, Punjabi University, has been awarded a prestigious research project by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR).
Dr. Satinder Kumar, while giving information regarding it, said that the project focuses on the evolving role of social media in the academic field. He shared that the main goal of the project is to develop practical guidelines that can help academic institutions and educators make responsible use of social media. These guidelines are expected to enhance academic excellence while maintaining professional boundaries in the use of social platforms.
He expressed hope that the insights gained from this study will support efforts to modernize India’s higher education system by integrating digital tools and widely used social media platforms in a credible and evidence-based manner.
He informed that the project involves around 900 academicians from public universities across northern India. A large-scale data collection and analysis will be conducted using a multi-stage sampling methodology.
Dr. Kumar further explained that the study will explore the changing role of social media as a strategic platform for academic outreach, professional development, and collaboration among Indian academicians. He said the research will also focus on how the effective use of social media can improve academic performance.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Jagdeep Singh congratulated Dr. Satinder Kumar on being awarded this project. He said that such achievements highlight the remarkable capabilities and research commitment of Punjabi University’s faculty.
