Deputy Commissioner, Patiala, Dr. Preeti Yadav has appealed to farmers across Patiala district to join the movement against stubble burning and adopt eco-friendly methods for managing crop residue.
During her visit to village Mandour today, Dr. Preeti Yadav interacted with farmer Inderjit Singh, who is managing stubble by preparing bales instead of setting it on fire. She lauded his initiative and urged other farmers to emulate such efforts to protect the environment and public health.
Dr. Yadav assured that the district administration is providing all necessary machinery and assistance to farmers adopting stubble management practices. Farmers can contact the District Control Room at 0175-2350550 to avail machinery such as Happy Seeder, Super Seeder, and Surface Seeder.
Appreciating the contribution of local farmers, she noted that many are now incorporating stubble into the soil or converting it into bales. On this occasion, baler owner Amritpal Singh shared that he has invested around ₹2 crore in a baler and tractor unit, capable of preparing bales for about 150 acres per day. Sarpanches Harpreet Singh and Amandeep Singh of village Mandour informed that no farmer in their area is burning stubble this season.
Dr. Yadav added that the entire district administration — including all ADCs, SDMs, DSPs and departmental teams — is actively engaging with farmers in the fields to prevent stubble burning in strict compliance with the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court and the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM). Cluster and nodal officers have also been deployed at the village and cluster levels to ensure coordinated monitoring and timely assistance.

Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner held a review meeting with ADCs Navreet Kaur Sekhon and Simarpreet Kaur, SPs Palwinder Singh Cheema, H.S. Mann, and Jasvir Singh, all SDMs and DSPs, along with Chief Agriculture Officer Jaswinder Singh, AEO Ravinder Singh, ADO Raspinder Singh, and other senior officials.
