Degree College Zakura, Srinagar hosts Lecture on Artificial Intelligence

The ICT Committee of the Government Degree College Zakura ,in a strategic collaboration with the Human Resource Development (HRD) Cell of the college, successfully organized an invited expert lecture on Artificial Intelligence (AI) today. The “Intelligence Redefined: How AI is Reshaping Education, Research, and Innovation” event featured an illuminating session by Dr. Bilal Maqbool Beigh, drawing a significant gathering of faculty members and students.
The program was inaugurated by the event coordinator, Prof. Qurat Ul Ain, who also serves as the Convenor of the ICT Committee. In her opening address, she welcomed the attendees, stating, “It is with great delight that I welcome you all to this invited talk on Artificial Intelligence, aptly titled ‘Intelligence Redefined: How AI is Reshaping Education, Research, and Innovation,’ which has been jointly organized by the ICT Committee and HRD Cell of the college.”
She further set the tone for the discourse by highlighting the collaborative future of academia, noting, “The future of academia will not be defined by a choice between humans and AI, but by the quality of collaboration between them. By harnessing AI’s power, institutions and individuals can enhance their capabilities while maintaining the essence of critical thinking, intellectual honesty, and education that prioritize human needs and well-being.”
The session was formally welcomed by the Principal, Prof. Syed Iffat Ara, who emphasized the transformative potential of AI in modern academia. She highlighted its critical role in reshaping pedagogical approaches, enhancing research capabilities, and driving institutional innovation, perfectly framing the day’s theme.
Dr. Beigh’s expert lecture was both comprehensive and engaging, demystifying AI for the audience. He traced the evolution of AI from its rule-based origins to today’s predictive and generative models. He elaborated on core concepts like Deep Learning and delved into practical applications, demonstrating how AI serves as a powerful tool for personalized learning, enhanced assessment, and accelerating academic research. The session was highly interactive, fostering a vibrant discussion with faculty and students, with Prof. Sajad Ahmad Magray acting as the Rapporteur for the proceedings.

The program concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Syed Toasin Rehmat, who acknowledged the contributions of the speaker, the support of the principal, and the diligent efforts of the organizing committees.
The event was hailed as a resounding success, achieving its objectives of enhancing awareness, stimulating student interest in AI, and providing faculty with new perspectives on integrating technology into their teaching and research.
