The Indian film industry lost another gem today. We are talking about veteran legendary Bollywood actor Dharmendra, also known as the He-Man of Bollywood breathed his last in his Mumbai residence. He was 89.

As per reports, Dharmendra suffered from prolonged illness. He was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit earlier at Breach Candy hospital but later shifted to his Mumbai residence. The veteran actor was put on life support shortly after he returned from Breach Candy Hospital where he was getting treatment for his heart problems.

The news of Dharmendra’s demise came just days before his 90th birthday.

He is survived by his first wife Prakash Kaur, sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, second wife Hema Malini and daughters Esha Deol and Ahana Deol.

Dharmendra Kewal Krishan Deol alias Dharmendra was born on 8 December 1935, is an Indian actor, producer, and politician who is widely considered one of the greatest, most handsome and commercially successful film stars in the history of Indian cinema.

He is nicknamed the “He-Man” of Bollywood. Dharmendra was the winner of Filmfare  magazine’s nationally organised new talent award and went to Mumbai from Punjabto work in the movie.With a cinematic career spanning over six decades, he has worked in more than 300 films.

Dharmendra was born in Nasrali, a village in Ludhiana district, Punjab. He was born to Kewal Krishan and Satwant Kaur into a Punjabi Jat family. His ancestral village is Dangon, near Pakhowal Tehsil Raikot, Ludhiana.

He spent his early life in the village of Sahnewal and studied at Government Senior Secondary School at Lalton Kalan, Ludhiana, where his father was the village school headmaster. He did his matriculation in Phagwara in 1952. In those days, schools of Punjab came under Panjab University, Chandigarh.
