18th IAPSM Punjab Chapter State-Level Conference “VACCICON 2025” Organized at BFUHS, Faridkot

The 18th Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine (IAPSM) Punjab Chapter Conference, “VACCICON 2025”, was successfully organized today at the Senate Hall of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot. The event was hosted by the Department of Community Medicine, Guru Gobind Singh Medical College & Hospital (GGSMCH), Faridkot.
This state-level academic conference witnessed the participation of faculty members from Community Medicine departments across Punjab, medical officers from various health departments, public health experts, residents, and researchers, all gathered to discuss key themes related to vaccination and preventive health.
Prof. (Dr.) Rajeev Sood, Vice Chancellor, BFUHS, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and delivered the Inaugural Address. In his remarks, Dr. Sood emphasized that vaccination has played a pivotal role in eliminating polio from India and several other countries. He acknowledged the significant contributions of ASHA workers, ANMs, and doctors in this public health achievement. He also highlighted the importance of addressing vaccine myths, advancing adult and geriatric immunization, and leveraging digital tools to strengthen the immunization programme.

At the conference, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Principal, GGS Medical College, Faridkot, delivered a speech on the importance of vaccination. Dr. Shalini Devgan, Professor & Head, Department of Community Medicine, warmly welcomed all delegates, including faculty members from various medical colleges, medical officers, and public health experts.
Dr. Jasleen Kaur, President, and Dr. Preeti Padda, General Secretary, IAPSM Punjab Chapter, shared details about the Punjab-level Conference “VACCICON” — 18th IAPSM Punjab Chapter.
The workshop was attended by Dr. Deepak J Bhatti (Dean Colleges), Dr. Rajeev Sharma (Controller of Examinations), and Dr. Rohit Chopra (Additional Registrar, BFUHS), along with faculty members and postgraduate students from Guru Gobind Singh Medical College, Faridkot.
The scientific programme of VACCICON 2025 was thoughtfully designed and featured sessions on:
- Vaccine Myths to Milestones
- Adult and Geriatric Immunization
- Use of Digital Tools to Enhance Vaccination Coverage
- Panel Discussion on Newer Vaccines, with key updates on IPV, HPV, and PCV
The event registered a strong academic turnout of more than 230 participants, including faculty members, residents, and medical officers from across Punjab.
The conference also included paper and poster presentations, interactive discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions aimed at promoting evidence-based immunization practices and strengthening public health systems.

During the Vote of Thanks, Dr. Gaganpreet Singh, Associate Professor, Department of Community Medicine, expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, participants, and contributors for making the event a success.
The Organizing Chairpersons — Dr. Vishal Gupta, Dr. Shalini Devgan, Dr. Gaganpreet Singh, and Dr. Shamim Monga — along with the dedicated organizing team and faculty members of the Department of Community Medicine, GGSMCH Faridkot, played an instrumental role in ensuring the smooth and successful conduct of VACCICON 2025.
