SGPC president Dhami appreciates World University initiatives during  Shaheedi Sabha at Fatehgarh sahib

In an atmosphere of deep reverence, spiritual devotion, and academic reflection, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib, successfully concluded its multi-day Shaheedi Sabha observances dedicated to the supreme martyrdom of Mata Gujri Ji and the Chhote Sahibzadas—Sahibzada Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Sahibzada Baba Fateh Singh Ji.

During the Shaheedi Sabha, while participating in the Fourth Annual Shaheedi Sabha–Dedicated Book Fair, Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, President, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), Sri Amritsar, highly appreciated the academic, spiritual, and social initiatives undertaken by the University. Interacting with various publishers at the Book Fair, he gathered insights into the growing reading culture among the Sangat and remarked that the younger generation’s renewed engagement with Gurmat literature is a highly auspicious sign and a hopeful indicator for the intellectual and spiritual future of Sikh society.

On this occasion, Singh Sahib Giani Kuldeep Singh , Jathedar, Sri Akal Takht Sahib, stated that the University’s initiative to connect the Sangat with Sikh history and Gurmat literature is truly commendable. Singh Sahib Giani Tek Singh Dhanola, Jathedar, Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, also praised the enthusiasm shown by the Sangat towards the Book Fair.

Providing details, Prof. (Dr.) Prit Pal Singh, Vice-Chancellor, informed that more than thirty publishers participated in the Book Fair, presenting important publications related to Gurmat literature, Gurbani interpretation, and Sikh history. He further stated that along with the Book Fair, various student competitions—including Gurbani Shudh Uchaaran, Dastarbandi, speech, poetry recitation, and academic quizzes—were organised, witnessing enthusiastic participation from over 200 students from different schools.

On this occasion, Advocate Amardeep Singh Dharni, Member, University Trust, also appreciated the University’s initiatives undertaken during the Shaheedi Sabha, including the Book Fair, student competitions, NSS camp, and Physiotherapy Camps. He remarked that through these activities, the University is effectively fulfilling its social and spiritual responsibilities.

Prof. (Dr.) Sukhwinder Singh Billing, Dean Academic Affairs, stated that considering the growing interest of the Sangat and students in books, the Book Fair will be organised on a much larger scale in the coming year, with the inclusion of prominent publishers at the national level.

During the Shaheedi Sabha, Gurmat and historical lectures based on the life, teachings, and sacred Bani of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji were organised. A Kavi Darbar was also held, providing a distinguished platform for poetic expression on religious and cultural themes.

In the spirit of seva, the University organised a seven-day special NSS camp, during which student volunteers actively served the Sangat. Additionally, free Physiotherapy Camps organised by the Department of Physiotherapy provided treatment and consultation to more than 500 beneficiaries. The University’s Gatka team also showcased traditional martial skills through impressive Shastar Vidya demonstrations.

The Shaheedi Sabha concluded with a grand Nagar Kirtan, in which the entire University staff, students, and members of the Sangat participated with deep devotion under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor.

At the conclusion, Dr. Hardev Singh, Dean, Faculty of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Studies, and Convener of the Book Fair, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all eminent Panthic personalities, the Sangat, faculty members, and students for their invaluable contribution towards the successful organisation of the Shaheedi Sabha and the Book Fair.
