Civil Surgeon Patiala organised a workshop on Diarrhea Control

Intensified Diarrhea Control Fortnight (IDCF) activity was started by Government of India throughout the country since 2014 every year. This year it will be implemented from 28th May to 09th June 2019, since maximum cases of diarrhea are reported in summer and monsoon seasons. So a district level workshop was conducted under the overall guidance and supervision of Dr. Manjit Singh, Civil Surgeon Patiala on 10th May 2019.

During this workshop all the Senior Medical Officers, Nodal Medical Officers, LHVs and BEEs of district Patiala were given detailed information and strict directions for implementation of this fortnight by Dr. Manjit Singh Civil Surgeon, Patiala. Dr. Sudha Grover, District Immunization Officer Patiala gave detail instructions for involvement of ASHA Workers for distribution of ORS Packets in all households with under five children. They will demonstrate the mothers how to prepare ORS and Zinc solution. ASHAs will deliver key messages on Hand washing, sanitation, use of toilets and danger signs of diarrhea to mothers.

ANMs will also impart these key messages during their village health nutrition and sanitation days at sub-centre level. Primary and middle schools children will also be taught how to Wash Hands and importance of hand washing during this fortnight. For the treatment of diarrhea patients ORS -Zinc corners will be established in all health Facilities upto sub-centre level.

Dr. Vishal Malhotra District Nodal Officer, Patiala gave presentation on management and treatment of diarrhoea and demonstration of hand washing technique to all the participants.
