Punjab Civil Secretariat, Punjab Municipal Bhawan receive bomb threats

After bomb threat emails were earlier sent to schools, universities, district administration complexes, and district courts across various parts of Punjab, miscreants have now targeted high-security establishments—the Punjab and Haryana Civil Secretariat in Chandigarh and the Punjab Municipal Bhawan, Sector 35, Chandigarh.
According to available information, a bomb threat email was sent to the National Informatics Centre (NIC) at the Punjab Civil Secretariat, Sector 1, Punjab Mini Sectt sector-9 Chandigarh, and to the Director, Local Government, at the Punjab Municipal Bhawan, Chandigarh. The Punjab Chief Minister normally holds official functions at the auditorium of this office.
Following the bomb threat targeting the Punjab Civil Secretariat and the Punjab Municipal Bhawan, panic spread in the area. The threat was sent via email.
As soon as the information was received, teams from the police, fire brigade, and bomb disposal squad immediately rushed to the spot. Security agencies cordoned off the Secretariat area and the Punjab Municipal Bhawan, and as a precautionary measure, evacuated employees and other people present inside. An intensive search operation is currently underway throughout the entire area. According to officials, all necessary security measures are being taken, and efforts are ongoing to identify the person who sent the threatening email.
