Thapar Institute Hosts “Milestone & Momentum – Celebrating Startups”

Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology (TIET), Patiala, through Thapar Innovate in collaboration with TiE Chandigarh and Startup Punjab successfully hosted “Milestone & Momentum – Celebrating Startups” on 29 January 2026 at VentureLab Thapar. The event brought together leaders from academia, industry, government, and the startup ecosystem to celebrate entrepreneurial achievements and discuss pathways for startup growth.
The programme began with an inaugural ceremony and lamp lighting by Pooja Nayar (TiE Chandigarh) and Dr. R. S. Kaler, Dean – Research, TIET, followed by a welcome address by Prof. M. D. Singh, Head, VentureLab Thapar-Thapar Innovate. Panel discussions focused on incubation and early-stage startup support systems and women entrepreneurship, featuring experts from TiE, academia, and industry.
The Guest of Honour session included addresses by Prof. Ajay Batish, Pro Vice-Chancellor & Chief Academic Officer, TIET, Deepinder Dhillon, Joint Director – Startups, Government of Punjab, and Mr. Kundan Gogia, Mayor, Patiala. The event concluded with elevator pitches from VentureLab Thapar incubated Startups, a felicitation ceremony, and networking, reinforcing TIET’s commitment to nurturing a vibrant startup ecosystem.
