In order to protect the interests of employees and officials going to retire from various departments of Punjab Government, the State Finance Department has issued instructions for timely submission of their pension cases. The Finance Department has issued a letter to the heads of departments in this regard.
A spokesperson of the Finance Department said that the list of employees and officials, who are going to retire from the various departments within the next twenty four to thirty months, is not being sent quarterly nor any such pension case is being sent to the Auditor General, Punjab for approval. The AG is sending back incomplete cases. Due to such circumstances, the retired or going to retire employees and officials are facing difficulties in getting their benefits.
The spokesperson further said that due to such laxity, disposal of pension cases was being delayed resulting in harassment of employees besides their financial loss.
As per the standard procedure a department has to prepare a list of employees who are due to retire within 12 to 15 months, so that the retiree can get his retrial benefits, in time
