The much-anticipated annual Cultural-Literary-Technical Festival TARANNUM-2026(Riwayat-e-Tarang), the flagship student fest of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), concluded with grand celebrations marked by vibrant performances, spirited competition, and an overwhelming display of student talent and creativity.

The festival was inaugurated by MRSPTU Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, while Dr. Rattan Gupta, Director of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, graced the closing ceremony as the Chief Guest. The first lady of the university Prof. Anupama Sharma also graced the occasion as a special guest. Addressing the gathering, Prof. Sharma highlighted the pivotal role of co-curricular and sports activities in shaping well-rounded personalities and enhancing academic excellence. He congratulated the participants, winners, and organizers, and underscored the university’s consistent progress and achievements.

Echoing these views, Dr. Rattan Gupta urged students to pursue excellence through teamwork and perseverance. Issuing a clarion call against drug abuse, he expressed confidence that the energy and commitment of youth would play a decisive role in making Punjab drug-free.

Organised by the Office of the Dean Student Welfare with the support of the Cultural Coordinator and various club coordinators, TARANNUM-2026 featured a rich spectrum of events across four major categories—Cultural, Literary, Technical, and Hobby/Fine Arts. The festival stage came alive with enthralling performances including songs, dances, skits, rap battles, band shows, and traditional Giddha and Bhangra, keeping the audience captivated throughout.

Adding to the electrifying atmosphere, a renowned band from Amritsar delivered a high-energy performance that left the crowd mesmerised.

In the batch-wise competitions, the 2023 batch emerged as the overall winner by clinching 20 gold medals, while the 2024 batch secured the position of first runner-up with five gold medals.

The event witnessed the presence of Registrar Dr. Gurinder Pal Singh Brar, along with senior faculty members, deans, directors, and staff, whose collective efforts ensured the resounding success of the festival.

The success of TARANNUM-2026(Riwayat-e-Tarang) was driven by the tireless efforts of Programme Chief Coordinator and Dean Student Welfare Dr. Paramjit Singh, Cultural Coordinator Dr. Gagandeep Kaur, enthusiastic student coordinators, and the Cultural Core Committee comprising senior faculty members. The stage proceedings were efficiently conducted by Assistant Professor Dr. Sunita Kotwal.

Members of the Cultural Committee—Dr. Satpal Singh, Dr. Shweta Ran, Dr. Barinderjeet Singh, Dr. Wineet Chawla, Dr. Mandeep Kaur, Dr. Anumeet Kaur, Dr. Prabsharan Kaur, Ar. Mitakashi Sharma, and Dr. Kapil Arora—played a key role in making the event a grand success.

The festival concluded on a celebratory note with dignitaries honouring the winners, marking a memorable culmination of creativity, culture, and youthful spirit at MRSPTU.
