Punjab School Education Board to conduct class V and VIII exams

The Punjab School Education Board shall conduct an examination of class V and VIII at the end of every academic year as per the schedule fixed by PSEB in consultation with State Council of Educational Research and Training  (SCERT), informed an official spokesperson of the State Government. A notification in this context has been issued.

Giving details, the spokesperson informed that PSEB shall determine and fix the criteria for passing the examination, as per its policy. Besides, as per the provisions of Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act 2009, it shall conduct an examination within two months in respect of the students who fail to pass the examination.

He informed that in case a child fails in the examination and before he takes the examination conducted by the Board within a period of two months, thereafter, such a student shall be promoted provisionally in the next class. Such students will be provided instructions and all necessary academic help by the concerned school, said he and added that in case such a child fails to pass even the later examination conducted by PSEB, he/she shall be detained in the previous class.
