Barnala Continues to Lead in E-Services with Lowest Pendency; 3 Sewa Kendras remain open even on Sundays

With the lowest pendency (0.3%) of applications of sewa kendras and the e-service portal, Barnala district continues to hold the top position in the state.
Deputy Commissioner Barnala Harpreet Singh IAS stated that the district administration is committed to delivering transparent and time-bound services. Between May 3, 2025 and May 2, 2026, a total of 1,24,716 applications were received through e-Sewa. Out of these, 1,08,453 applications were disposed of within the stipulated time, while 13,061 are under process and 3,202 were sent back due to various reasons.
The most commonly availed services include caste certificates, residence certificates, EWS (Economically Weaker Section) certificates, income certificates, and old-age pension. The administration ensures that all eligible beneficiaries receive these services and certificates within the stipulated time period.
14 Sewa kendras in the district are providing around 450 services. Among these, three sewa kendras located at the District Administrative Complex (Barnala), Veterinary Hospital (Tapa) and Mahal Kalan remain open even on Sunday with one counter operational from 9 AM to 5 PM, ensuring services are available all seven days a week. The sewa kendre at Prem Pradhan Market, Barnala, operates from 8 AM to 8 PM (Monday to Saturday), while the remaining sewa kendras function from 9 AM to 5 PM (Monday to Saturday), DC added.

Sharing citizen experiences, Munni Devi, a resident of Prem Nagar (Dhanaula Road, Barnala), said she applied for old-age pension on April 18 and her pension was approved by April 26. Similarly, Kuldeep Singh from Thikriwala received his mother’s death certificate on April 28—before the due date of April 29. In another case, Jeon Singh from Chuhanke Khurd received his child’s birth certificate on April 24, ahead of the deadline of April 27.
